LEGO Marvel is going to have a tough time in 2024. Some would argue that the tough time has already started, with high prices leading to widespread consumer dissatisfaction with sets that are to all intents and purposed perfectly fine, but which are so expensive for what they deliver that many consider them an insult.
Case in point: LEGO 76281 X-Men X-Jet, a phenomenally expensive set with a particularly low piece count, making it a difficult set to recommend at full retail price.
At the same time, LEGO Marvel is facing a slump in general enthusiasm for the MCU as a whole, brought on by apathy towards the latest few Marvel movies, which is no doubt also impacting merchandise sales. If the LEGO Group doesn't find a way to make these sets more appealing, there's a chance the theme as a whole could lose its relevance within the Marvel catalogue.
The good news is, there is a potential solution. 76280 Spider-Man vs. Sandman: Final Battle has been particularly well-received because of the way it expands an existing popular set. If LEGO could offer more of these add-on sets, it could be a way to make LEGO Marvel feel more appealing - so long as it's done right.
